Arriving to conclusions can be considered the most difficult part of any form of writing. We felt the same here with this article on photography contests. Hope you enjoyed it.

Proper Makeup as a Technique in Photography

Wide-angle lens: is the choice of most landscape photographers. They allow you to include as much of the scene as possible when you look in your viewfinder with a wide focal length of 17 mm to 40mm.

The photograph business is one of the most interesting of all businesses, and one of the businesses that has undergone one of the most enormous changes in recent years.

And that same sunset behind the mountain that you've seen everyday since you were a kid may look pretty amazing to someone who has never been to the mountains.

You don't want to set your goals so high that you get let down but there is nothing wrong with going for what you want.

There are different ways of finding photography jobs, depending on the type of job you are looking for and your experience. You can begin by creating a resume and portfolio of your work.

Proper Makeup as a Technique in Photography

There are two things that are needed to capture the perfect shot. They are the talent of the photographer and the model. If one of these is missing, the pictures will never land on a magazine and will just be hidden in a drawer.

The photographer can control the lighting, the type of camera to be used on the photo shoot and the kind of film that will be great developed. The model has to show up for the event and a with a little magic from the assistant transform the face with makeup.

Cosmetic products can really make a person standout. The same beauty products that can be bought at the supermarket are also used by people during a photo shoot. The difference is that the model has two or three assistants putting this all on him or her.

There are a few things that the model needs to look good in front of the camera.

The first is the concealer. Everyone has a few dark spots and applying just a little can cover these areas until the photo shoot is over.

Next is the foundation. This should be applied all over the face. This will make the skin look smooth and hide those pimples and freckles that no one wants to see.

Outdoor and travel photography is focused on taking pictures of landscapes and natural places.

If you enjoy photography and are thinking of it as a career, there are actually many different directions you can choose from.

You will also want to check any and all requirements to the contest and make sure you qualify. You will then want to check for any fine print and be sure you agree with the terms.

Nature photography is the photography of animals, birds, fish and other wildlife. We will be discussing marine photography in a future article, because it involves specialist, expensive equipment and assorted diving skills.

First you are going to want to choose a contest. In fact, there are so many out there you should make a list of ones you are interested in competing in.

Powder is another essential part of putting on make-up. This should be focused on the forehead, cheeks and chin, mainly because light captures these areas very well especially when model looks into camera and smiles.

The eyebrows can be enhanced using a pencil or a brush. This will make the person look sexy as if the model is looking deep into the reader's eyes.

Eye shadows are also another important part. The right color will depend on the facial skin of the model. The assistant should be careful not to put too much or too little since this could ruin the shot.

Photo shoots are long and if the model is very popular, the fatigue of going from one location to the next can be covered by using some eyeliner. This should be placed under the eye and on the edges to prevent eye bags from appearing on the images.

The most important thing for makeup which is usually the finishing touch is the lipstick. The assistants can also do this using a pencil and some lip gloss.

Makeup can be done in just a few minutes. This magic can bring the model to life and capture the eyes of the readers for the product being endorsed.

If you love taking pictures and the idea of a career in photography sounds good to you, just how do you begin finding photography jobs?

Underwater photography is as the name implies photos that are taken under water. This is pretty interesting since early cameras could not function if wet. But as people started discovering the wonders under the sea, they wanted to be able to share that with others or even just to prove what they actually saw.

You will want to be original and if possible, catch a scene that has not been done before. You really want to impress the judges with something you do not normally see.

Getting developed rolls of film back from a reunion or vacation is heartbreaking if something went wrong (and even someone having their eyes closed, if it is during a wedding portrait, is "something wrong").

Look at all they have to offer and make your decision after weighing what you think is the best deal for the money in terms of what you actually get.

Customer Review: Just what I needed...

I'm surprised how brick and mortar stores can charge almost twice as much for this 4GB memory card with a straight face. I use this card with my Canon Rebel XTi and the card is plenty fast for continuous shooting (even in RAW)- so there was no need for me to step up to the faster Extreme III card.

Customer Review: FAST CARD

This card is very fast it took 1:19 to receive 224mb file fron my computer my x/d card took 1:52 to receive the same file,it took 2:27 to receive 344mb from the pc,my xd card took 4:45 for the same file,it is not at all 20mb per sec. It is made in china, however not a problem if it performs well , my x/d card buffers fast and pause my E510 in burst mode, with this card the camera does not stop at all. In raw mode the x/d card will not match, it makes the camera act like a point & shoot .You should not go without an extreeme III as you will be diappointed when the action starts. Bottom line not 20mbs but does out perform all my current sd/xd/& cf cards when tested in equiptment and card reader. Good value for money. Christopher Semi pro.

Customer Review: Great card for DSLRs

This is a great performer. I've never given this product much though while using it, which is good. I don't want to be thinking about the slow write times when I'm shooting photos. I want to keep my mind on the subject, and not the limitations of the equipment. And so far, I have found no limitations with this product.

Customer Review: Great first digital camera!

Canon PowerShot A570IS 7.1MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized ZoomThis is my first digital camera and I just love it! It's fairly easy to operate and takes great pictures. I would recommend it if you've never had a digital camera. I also ordered the Canon PSC-85 Deluxe Soft Case to carry the camera and it fits very well.

Customer Review: Canon camera

Canon PowerShot A570IS 7.1MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom Before I could take my first pix with this camera I discovered that the flash did not work. So, I sent it to Canon to fix. I would give them an A for customer service except that I had to pay to ship the camera to them. I really cannot rate the camera itself because I have not received it back from Canon yet, although it is enroute. It seems there should be better qualilty control though so that a new purchaser wouldn't have a problem like this.

Free Stock Photography

The term ?free? stock photographs does not mean that the photograph or images are free by default. Royalty free stock photography means a customer pays fees only once for a photograph. They don?t have to pay every time they need to use it. A free stock photograph can be used as many times and as long as the customer wishes. However, the copyright remains with the photographer who owns the photograph. When a customer buys free stock photograph, it is theirs to use, but they cannot sell it.

If a customer wants to use royalty free stock photographs on their website, they must make sure that their license permits the right of publication of the image. Many royalty free stock photographs are sold under the license for printing or electronic use only. These photographs are becoming more and more popular and are available on many websites and CD?s. The main drawback of free stock photographs is images can be purchased by anyone and used multiple times. A potential buyer has no way of knowing whether someone else is using the image.

Generally, fees for royalty free stock photographs depend on size and not on usage. A copyright holder can sell a photograph to anyone. However, is a customer is looking for a unique, one-of-a-kind image for a corporate campaign, etc., and then is wiser to hire a professional photographer? The difference between stock photographs and royalty free stock photographs is that a stock photograph can be used only once after licensing. If a customer wants to use it again, he needs another license. Royalty free stock photographs can be used many times over a long period of time.

If you need some pictures and you need to find them quickly, if you need photos to use on a website, or if you need photos and can not pay/do not have time for a professional photographer, stock photography may be the answer.

What are stock photographs? Stock photos are those that are submitted to a photo library. The library then sells the rights to use the images (usually on a website) and the library keeps part of the fees. The great stock photographer can make good money by submitting photos to the library regularly. They may make a good amount of money from the photos.

There are many services out there to offer you great stock photography. No matter what you are looking for, you can find a photo library that will have it for you. You can find thousands of pictures of people, places, animals and much more. A quick search on the internet will show you there are many photo libraries available. Corbis is one popular one. They all have different fees you will have to look for yourself.

With the many stock photography suppliers on the internet, you can browse through hundreds of thousands of photos on the topics you are looking for. Many of these come royalty free and some do not. You can usually search for these in a specific way as well.

In the long run, the fee you pay to use the photos on your site are usually worth in and are cheaper than any other alternative. They are really great, high quality photos. Many of them are done by very professional photographers that are looking to make some extra money and maybe even extra exposure by placing some of their work in the stock photography market.

On Assignment: The Video Guide to Basic Videography

On Assignment: The Video Guide to Basic Videography
Customer Review: UNDERSTANDING VIDEO

Are you one of the many persons who has a video camera and find yourself disappointed with your shots? If so, this excellent presentation gives you the ins and outs of videography from start to finish. Narrator, Brian Ratty, an expert in his field, covers the basics of shooting effective videos in a three part format.

First, you are given an introduction to the history, development and theory of video. In basic terms he explains just how video works. Second, you are introduced to the different kinds of cameras to use, shooting techniques, basic maintenance and the proper use of the camera. Third, he points out the various markets for making videos if you choose to go into business.

Video Guide to Basic Videography is an essential tool to have for the amateur videographer or someone who wants to get the most use out of their video camera. It is an excellent teaching tool to supplement any classroom course covering the basics of videography. Brian Ratty is clear and concise in his presentation. As someone who has used video cameras in the past and is now about to purchase one I found this source an excellent tool in gaining more familiarity with the equipment.

The American Experience - The Wizard of Photography

The American Experience - The Wizard of Photography
In the 19th century photography developed into an art form, but it was restricted to professionals because the cameras and chemicals required to take pictures were both complicated and unwieldy. A young American, George Eastman, vowed to change that, and in the process he changed the world. As dramatically portrayed in this documentary, an installment of PBS's American Experience series, Eastman persisted until he succeeded in producing the Kodak Brownie camera, which made photography possible for just about anyone. With his fanatical eye for detail, Eastman even coined the meaningless word "Kodak," as he wanted a trademark that referred only to his invention. Eastman was often hostile to his workers, prone to legal battles, and several times staved off his company's demise, yet he became one of the wealthiest men in America. The many photographs shown in this production portray the development of amateur photography, and scholars provide insight into how the ability to document ordinary lives changed society. The snapshot cameras sold by Eastman made millions happy, yet the man who made it all possible lived an isolated and lonely existence, with his peculiar personality ultimately leading him to planning his own death. This is a fascinating look at a unique American whose contributions to our lives are with us everyday. --Robert J. McNamara

Customer Review: gisteq photo tracker

the tracker works like is suppose, I enjoy using it with my camera, now I can even show other were the photo was taken. I did not think it worked like it does.

Customer Review: Overall good product

The good:

- Performs as promised

- Good GPS positioning, also tracks altitude

- Does good job of locking onto and holding GPS signal

- Software (ver 2.1) has a lot of advanced features.

- Compact and lightweight device

- Once you get it set up and figure out the software, its easy to use.

The bad:

- Software installation is confusing. Software, Drivers, and Firmware that ship with device were very outdated and updating all of these was a bit painful.

- Even though the software has a lot of modern and advanced features, it has the look and feel of a program that was designed about 6 to 8 years ago.

- The 1/2 page manual that shipped with the product is pretty bad. There is a PDF manual with the software that is a bit better.

- Some of the sounds the unit makes are right up there with fingernails on a chalkboard (thankfully they can be disabled). The voice prompts the unit gives are a bit cryptic.

Conclusion:

The device and software do not have the polished look and feel of something that would come from a major electronics company. However, I'm pleased with the product and would recommend it. Just give yourself a little extra time for installation and figuring out the software.

Customer Review: Pretty good but with a few shortcomings

I have a PS3, a 720p LCD TV, and a 720p DLP Projector. I have the AVIA and GetGrey calibration discs. I was excited about this product because I wanted to have HD versions of the test patterns in order to calibrate in pure HD as opposed to upscaled SD, in case different software and different video paths are used in the PS3 for HD versus SD. But I also wanted this disc because reviews and descriptions made it seem like there was expert help that walked you through (via the narrative) the proper use of the various tests.

I have to say that I was disappointed in the narrative. It gives a nice history of video technology and does explain a lot things in detail but it doesn't provide the kind of help that I was looking for. I also didn't like that thy used professional "voice talent" to read the narrative. It was painfully obvious that the speaker had no idea what he was saying and was just reading off a script. I would have much preferred to listen to a real audio/video expert.

I was also very disappointed in the lack of any color ramps on the disc. How am I supposed to accurately check color clipping without color ramps?

There was also a glitch in the navigation. It may be because I have the PS3 set to output 720p (to match my TV and Projector), but at times when I would bring up the nav menu it would be way too big and cut off at the bottom of the screen so you could only see the top half of it.

Still, there are many good things about this disc. It has some good HD reference videos, the section about audio and speaker setup is very thorough, and the historical explanation of why our video system is the way it is was very interesting. It does explain a lot of things well. And it includes some great color filters that are inside a cardboard frame. These filters are a lot easier to handle and store than the three loose ones that come with AVIA.

But as far as calibration goes; I went through all the tests and came up with the exact settings that I got from using AVIA and GetGrey.

I suppose I could sum it up by saying that if i had been able to borrow this disc from a friend before buying it, I would have thoroughly enjoyed going through it one time but I would have just stuck with the calibration discs that I already have.

Customer Review: If you have LCD or Plasma made in the last 2 years, dont bother.

Waste of time, money and effort. Even the Basic set up section leaves much to be desired. No where on this disk is there any information about newer TVs settings, like HDMI black level or white balance sliders. I have a new Samsung 50 Plasma that is filled with more then one set of contrast sliders, white balance sliders, color sliders and other settings like edge enhancement and DNie. Sure, this disk in not for a certain manufacture, but it is very limited in even explaining the basic contrast, color and brightness. At times your are not even sure what you are supposed to be changing. Even the little color look through viewer they give you to adjust your color is only marginal in helping because you cant really get all the color boxes to be the same shade. In the case of my TV, say I'm trying to set brightness and contrast using this DVD, how could I possibly know how the other settings for HDMI black or dynamic contrast will affect the main sliders for brightness and contrast. This disk spends way too much time explaining the history of HD and where it came from in regards to CRT technology, instead of just getting to the idea behind why we bought this disk in the first place, to make our new high tech TV look better. The plain truth is, my new Samsung already looks good, and pretty much did not need further adjustments that this DVD suggested, and I got my picture to look good just with tweaks I made to suit my viewing tastes. Dont bother with this, spend your $18 on a DVD movie, and tweak your set your self to suit your liking, or pay a professional to calibrate it.
